Roger Binny: Former Indian Cricketer and President of the BCCI
Early Life and Career
Roger Michael Humphrey Binny was born on July 19, 1955. He is a former Indian international cricketer and the 36th and incumbent president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). A versatile all-rounder, Binny represented India in both Test cricket and One Day Internationals (ODIs).
Test Cricket Record
As a right-handed batsman and right-arm medium pacer, Binny played 27 Test matches for India. He scored 830 runs, including two centuries and three half-centuries, and took 47 wickets.
ODI Career
In ODIs, Binny played 72 matches for India. He scored 1271 runs, including two centuries and six half-centuries, and took 77 wickets.
1983 World Cup Triumph
Binny was an integral part of the Indian team that won the 1983 Cricket World Cup. He was the leading wicket-taker for India in the tournament, capturing 18 wickets in eight matches.
Later Career and Recognition
After retiring from international cricket, Binny continued to play for Karnataka in domestic cricket. He also worked as a coach and commentator. In 2022, he was elected as the 36th president of the BCCI.
